CHIEF DR. SAMUEL I ORTOM ACHIEVEMENTS THROUGH INDUSTRIALIZATION

BENUE YOUTH’S IN DIASPORA AWAKES AS 2015 IS CLOSE
The winds are set to blow, breeze is coming, the sun is about to rise and set, the moon is set to appear in Benue State as the tenure of our amiable Governor Gabriel Torwua Suswam is in the last lap of his stewardship, but the question lingering in every length and breadth of the State is “Who shall be crowned to lead the Food Basket of the Nation come 2015 to consolidate democracy and continuity of good governance”.

The search for a personality that can live lasting legacies and put smiles on the faces of Benue Citizens have awaken the Benue Youths in Diaspora among several other groups to rise in search of who shall take us to the dream Benue, who shall take after our great leaders past Chief J. S. Tarka, Chief Aper Aku and Fr. Moses Adasu, who brought about sustainable development in Benue State, and also now our incumbent governor Dr. Gabriel Tor Suswam, who has taken upon himself as a visionary leader to foster infrastructural, economic and human development in Benue State. Benue Youths in Diaspora have being awaken by the words of Charlotte Perkin Gilman that “it’s the duty of the youths to bring its fresh powers to bear on the social and political progress and each generation of young people should be to the world like a vast reserve force to a tired army, they should lift the world forward, that is what they are for”. This inspiration by Gilman posed a challenged to Benue Youths in Diaspora to immediately arise to duty, mobilize, enlighten and advocate for youths to be involved in who leads us come 2015. This campaign is to ensure that Benue Youth knows where the moon appear to set, where the sun shall rise, where the breeze is blowing and where the wind of continuity is about to start just like the Wise men who were alert to follow the moon and know whom shall be born king of the Jews and in our case it's our concern to partake in who shall be our Governor come 2015.
The journey by Benue Youths in Diaspora in search of a credible candidate to succeed Rt. Hon. Gabriel. T. Suswam stepped on an amiable personality who is a true Benue Son, farmer, philanthropist, party elder, industrialist, advocate of the down trodden, grassroots mobilizer, community leader, social crusader and very inspiring an evangelist of the Gospel. He is a man who believes he is not a “Big Man” and does not fit into the destination of a it (Big man), a man who is always in touch with the masses and knows their challenges having risen from a very humble beginning, someone who lived almost all his lifetime in the State serving the grassroots, one of the most accessible and most humbled Benue Politician, who ease can this description fit than the Nyamkume i Nzorov and the present Minister of State, Federal Ministry of trade and investment Chief Dr. Samuel Ioraer Ortom.

Born on 23rd April, 1961, Dr. Samuel Ioraer Ortom in Nongov District of Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, which incidentally falls within the bloc most political actors believes should produce the next Governor come 2015 in Benue. Dr. Ortom foray into political arena started in 1991 when he was elected as the youngest ever Local Government chairman in Nigeria at just the age of 30. He served Guma Local Government of Benue State as Executive chairman from 1991 – 1993, an office where his legacies became the cornerstone on which future administrations have built on. He was at various times the state publicly secretary of National Centre Party of Nigeria (NCP), State treasure of All People’s Party (APP) and later became the state secretary of People Democratic Party (PDP). Dr. S.I. Ortom hardwork, respect for party discipline and performance made him to be returned as the state deputy chairman of People’ Democratic Party (PDP) in 2004 to 2008 at a time where he actively Midwifed the success of the party at different elections. In 2007, he also served the state chapter of People’s Democratic Party as director of organization, Suswam/Lawani campaign organization, a gubernatorial electioneering effort that lead to Massive Victory for the party and brought in the administration of Rt. Hon. Dr. G.T. Suswam. Chief Dr. Samuel Ioraer Ortom sincerity to purpose and dedication to duty made him sail through at the PDP National convention in March 2008 where he was unanimously elected National Auditor and served from March, 2008 – June 2011. He was also appointed by late president Umaru Musa Yaradua due to his diligence as the chairman governing council of the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) from 2009 to June 2011 Dr. Samuel Ortom grassroot heavy weight earned him in April 2011 appointment as the director, administration and logistics, Goodluck – Sambo campaign organization marshalling a gargantuan electioneering effort across the country to deliver the mandate of President Goodluck Jonathan.
Dr. Samuel Ioraer Ortom credentials as a grassroot man, industrialist, farmer made President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to nominate him into his cabinet as Minister and assigned the portfolio of Minister (state) Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment where he is marshalling a plan to increase productivity, more revenue, industrialization and a drastic reduction in unemployment among the over 50 million Nigerian youths, being an entrepreneur himself. It was mind blogging and the entire Senate was stirred during Dr. Samuel Ortom’s Ministerial Screening with his cultivating curriculum vitae as a school dropout, a motor park attendant in Gboko and one who struggled to attain education through very difficult means which prompted Senator Ehigie Uzamere (ACN Edo South), to move a motion asking the Senate to allow Dr. Ortom take a bow without further questions, a privilege accorded mostly to past members of the National Assembly. Senator Ehigie Uzamere said '' He was once a motor park attendant and rose to become somebody who knows what it means to be poor and he worked for the poor people of Nigeria”. This motion was seconded by Senator Joshua Dariye (LP, Plateau Central) who must have incidentally known Dr. Ortom rise from humble beginning having worked in Benue Cement Company (BCC), Gboko. Senator Joshua Dariye affirmed that “if Nigerians are honest in displaying their credentials like this man, Nigeria would be a better place and ended by saying I support that this man should take a bow and go”. This encounter and honour to this Benue Son does not need to be told even to a deaf man nor for a blind man to see what makes Dr. S.I Ortom a credible choice for Benue State Government house come 2015.
Dr. Samuel Ioraer Ortom being from a humbled background who has known, felt and experienced the challenges of the down trodden has fought hard to ensure 100s of Benue indigenes’ are employed in different Federal Ministries and Agencies including Industrial Training Fund, National Human Right Commission, Consumer Protection Council, Federal Civil Service Commission, Corporate Affairs Commission, Nigerian Immigration Service, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) , National Agency for food and drug, Administration and control (NAFDAC) , Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, National Automotive Council, Federal Ministry of trade and investment, Nigeria Export Promotion Council, Standard Organization of Nigeria, and Nigeria Railway Corporations.
Dr. Samuel Ortom’s drive for industrialization of Benue State and Massive employment through Agriculture speaks with 1000s of Benue youths and citizens on his payroll in his oracle Business enterprise such as Oracle Plastic Company Nig LTD, Oracle Goshen Table Water, Oracle Printing Press(a branch in Abuja and headquarters in Benue State Makurdi) and Oracle Farm Nig LTD which have many subsidiaries like Oracle Sheabutter Factory, Oracle Fish and Poultry Feed Factory, Oracle Citrus, Livestock, Fish, Grains, Poultry, Rice, Grasscutters and Snails Farm. The farm which is located at Makurdi Industrial layout and Gbajimba
This statistics unveils a man Benue Youths in Diaspora are advocating for, to take over the mantle of leadership in Benue state, come 2015 with Massive industrialization through Agriculture and further boost over pride as “Food Basket of the Nation”. My fellow Benue Youths, elders, community leaders, my Lords Spiritual and temporal, kingmakers and entire Benue Citizens, the time has come and our search has narrowed to only Chief Dr. Samuel Ioraer Ortom who is happily married to Eunice and the marriage is blessed with 10 children and 4 grand children to be considered for the Chief steward of Benue come 2015 and hopefully crowned as our chief steward. · Updated 30 minutes ago
